The Social Performance Awareness Raising Workshop was conducted in two events during 30-31 December, 2011 and 2-3 January 2012. The participants for both events were total of 61 individuals/institutions.  Director of Nepal Rastra Bank (Central Bank of Nepal)/ Microfinance Regulation and Supervision Division Mr. Chinta Mani Siwakoti had chaired the first workshop while Executive Director of the same department of Nepal Rastra Bank had chaired the second.

Basically these activities were designed to inform and aware the Nepalese MFIs on Social Performance issues and its importance for sustainability in microfinance industry.

Workshop 1 (December 30-31, 2011)
This workshop was organized in a training style according to the curiosity raised by the participants. The training sessions were on Introduction to social performance, Universal Standards of Social Performance, assessing and diagnosing SPM in MFIs, Mission Deconstruction and Social Goal Development, Client Protection Principles, SP Reporting to the MIX and Closing session with Training Evaluation and Action Plan for SP promotion and repsorting to the MIX. Mr. Tejhari Ghimire had facilitated the session on Universal Standard of Social Performance while Mr. Naresh Nepal and Mr. Jagadish Babu Tiwari had jointly facilitated the rest of the sessions. The training was conducted using a mix of lecture, brainstorming and group exercises. In addition, audio-visual on social performance management (Fulfilling the promise: Managing Social Performance) developed by Imp-act was also used in the training.

Workshop 2 (January 2-3, 2012)
The workshop contents were on Introduction of Social Performance, Universal Standard of Social Performance, Assessing & Diagnosing SPM in the MFIs, Client Protection Principles, Mission Deconstruction and Social Goal Development, SPS Reporting and Reporting to the MIX, Action Plan and training evaluation. Mr. Tejhari Ghimire had facilitated session on USSP; Mr. Naresh Nepal facilitated two sessions on ‘Assessing and Diagnosing SPM in MFIs’ and ‘Client Protection Principles’; Mr. Shivahari Devkota facilitated session on SPS Reporting and Reporting to the MIX and Mr. Jagadish Tiwari facilitated two sessions on  ‘Introduction of Social Performance’ and ‘Mission Deconstruction and Social Goal Development’. This workshop was guided by the materials provided by MFC in the Kick-Off workshop where a mix of lecture, brainstorming and group exercises methods were used. In addition, audio-visual on social performance management (Fulfilling the promise: Managing Social Performance) developed by Imp-act was also used in the break time.
