Social Performance Start-up Fund Kick-Off Workshop

Social performance Start-up Fund Kick-off Workshop was organized on 6-14 October 2011 in Legend Villas Hotel, Mandaluyong City, Manila, Philippines. Microfinance Centre (MFC) Poland had facilitated and Microfinance Council of Philippines (MCPI) had hosted the workshop. Microfinance and cooperative network organizations from Philippines, India and China had participated the workshop along with Centre for Microfinance Nepal from Nepal. Operation Manager Mr. Naresh Nepal; Sr. Microfinance Trainer Mr. Shivahari Devkota and Sr. Program Officer and Coordinator of ‘Social Performance Introductory Project Nepal’ Mr. Jagadish Babu Tiwari had participated the workshop.


This was the first event of the project. The first three days of the event was introductory workshop on social performance with focus on social performance management, standard reporting, client protection principles and practices. An exposure visit to a MFI Ahon Sa Hirap Inc. (ASHI) in was organized on the second day where senior managers of ASHI had presented on their activities related to SPM. Started addressing the social issues with a Social Research Project in 1989, ASHI had to face a crisis in 1994 while 62% of the members had 64.4% PAR in an average. After receiving technical assistance from CASHPOR and Grameen trust, repayment rate was improved and transaction costs were reduced.
