Project summary

1. Introduction

The MIX MARKET is a global, web-based, microfinance information platform. It provides information to sector actors and the public at large on microfinance institutions (MFIs) worldwide, public and private funds that invest in microfinance, MFI networks, raters/external evaluators, advisory firms, and governmental and regulatory agencies. The MIX Market seeks to develop a transparent information market to link MFIs worldwide with Investors and Donors and promote greater investment and information flows. In Nepal CMF has taken the responsibility of linking the all major Nepali MFIs to the MIX. CMF is committed to help increase the capacity of MFIs so that they are not only able to provide quality financial services to their clients, but also report them according to the industry norms to be visible nationally, regionally and internationally.

The MIX MARKET currently provides data on 1157 MFIs, 99 investors and 165 partners.

 

2. Goal
Increase the transparency of microfinance institutions in Nepal.

 

3. Objectives

  • To link MFIs of Nepal worldwide with investors and donors and promote greater investment and information flows.
  • To increase the transparency of microfinance institutions in Nepal.

 

4. Expected Results

Impact: The capacity of MFIs will increase so that they are not only able to provide quality financial services to their clients, but also report them according to the industry norms, and be visible.

Outcome:

  •  MFIs of Nepal are visible nationally, regionally and internationally
  •  They are not only able to provide quality financial services to their clients but also to report them according to the industry norms.

Output:  A minimum of 18 MFIs disclose their financial data every year.
